Jeremiah 24:7 - "I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart."
So, how does our heart get undefiled?
The answer is in (Mathew 15:18-20) - "But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”
We are what we we think and say we are! "A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." - (Mathew 6:45)
In the Jesus's "parable of the sower," those with a good "heart" were like seed planted in good soil:"But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience." (Luke 8:15)
Paul expounded on the virtues of a "pure heart" that has been purged of carnal behavior:"If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." (2 Timothy 2:21-22)
Let's strive towards living a righteous life, keeping our hearts pure from all the filthiness in this world. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." - (Mathew 5:8)
